With the entire area almost fully booked by the spring of 2020, and thus outstanding registration levels for spoga+gafa, the trade fair situation increasingly came to reflect the current developments around Covid-19 and the economic situation.
For this reason, the spoga+gafa team reassessed the overall situation together with the Advisory Board and decided that it was best to respond to the cancellations and wishes of a large number of industry exhibitors and visitors by suspending spoga+gafa 2020.
At the request of the industry, Koelnmesse have also permanently moved the date for spoga+gafa to the first half of the year. In future, this means that the largest garden lifestyle trade fair in the world will be held at a time more convenient for orders by large segments of the industry. In 2021, spoga+gafa will take place from 30 May to 1 June.
Several key trade fairs for the DIY and garden industry have had to make decisions against the backdrop of the global corona crisis.
Messe Frankfurt jointly decided with its partners – ZVEI and ZVEH – and with the Trade Fair Advisory Council, to defer the eleventh Light + Building, with the next exhibition taking place in 2022 from the 13-18 March. Messe Frankfurt had originally aimed at an alternative date for the world’s leading light and building technology trade fair in Autumn.
There are also two important changes in the pet product range: the event organisers of the two international trade fairs Interzoo (Nuremberg) and Zoomark International (Bologna) have agreed to postpone each of their events by one year. This means: Interzoo, which has been completely cancelled for 2020, will take place on 1-4 June 2021 and Zoomark International on 9-12 May 2022.

This is how Koelnmesse is responding to the increasingly acute global situation around the recent occurrence of the coronavirus. Some 3,000 exhibitors, including around 1,200 from China, had been expected to attend the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR, the world’s leading innovation and business platform for the hardware industry that is held every two years in Cologne. Registered exhibitors and visitors are now being notified of the postponement.
